Envy is defined as the resentful or unhappy feeling of wanting somebody else’s success, good fortune, qualities, or possessions. The Father has designed a destiny and purpose for each of us and have given us the tools we need to walk in everything He has for us, but the spirit of envy will cause you to take your focus off of what He has given you and to put it on what He has for someone else. The Word of God tells us to guard our hearts with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life. Envy is one of the most important spirits we must guard it against, because I can never pursue my call and destiny if my focus is on someone else’s. As believers we will have many opportunities to envy others, but we must choose to focus on the Father’s desires for our lives and to throw ourselves wholly into it.
