Many people don’t mind committing to a person, a business, or a church as long as there are no challenges to their commitment and no cost. Any commitment we make will always be tested and demand sacrifice. When Ruth committed herself to Naomi she was sacrificing her people, her culture, her god, and even her very life, and she was willing to stick with her commitment through times of hardship. When you and I make a commitment the Father expects us to stand by our declaration of covenant no matter what may come against it. Just as Jesus saw His commitment to His Father’s will to the end, we must remain in our commitments until we see the fullness of what God wants to produce.
